Expert Guitar Setups, Repairs and Modifications, in Harlem, New York City!
From 2006-2009 I was very fortunate to become an apprentice to Luthier Ric McCurdy in Manhattan. The tips and info I have learned go way beyond what you find in books. I have had the opportunity to play, examine and repair a large number of the world's greatest guitars. Also, it's rare to find an "apprentice" situation in today's world, and because of that it was an exceptionally valuable experience.
Here in Harlem I offer the services listed below for Electric, Acoustic, Archtop and Nylon-string Guitars, Electric Bass, Cuban Tres, Ukuleles, Banjos, Tiples, Cuban Lauds, Cavaquinhos and Dulcimers.
After many years of working, I can offer extremely high quality Fret Levels and Fret Replacements a.k.a. "Fret Jobs".
I also specialize in Acoustic Guitar-to-Cuban Tres conversions.
Recently I installed a Pickup attached to a pickguard on a 1950 Gibson L7-C. The wonderful pickup maker Jason Krivo Flores of Krivo Pickups
has created a Micro-Stealth PAF Pickup that's less than 1/4" thick for Vintage Archtops that don't have enough clearance for a standard pickup. Beautiful tone!
In addition, I have performed many unusual or "oddball" repairs that aren't on these lists.
Feel free to give me a call or send an email to discuss your repair at: bloomworks@hotmail.com
"Steve Bloom is a very talented guitar repairman. I've had many assistants over the last 25 years and Steve is the best; hands down. It's not just his well-developed skills, it's his relentless curiosity and drive. He's not satisfied until everything is perfect, and that's very rare nowadays. He can make any guitar play better. He will be one of the best, so take your repairs to him now before he gets too expensive!"
